Backhoe Cross Pattern Lever Controls: Ford 550, MF50B, Case 580F

Post #1 by TullyveeryClassicJCB » Thu Dec 26, 2013 9:33 am

JCB cross pattern controls are the left lever for boom and slew and the right lever for dipper and bucket but is the pattern the same for the Ford 550, MF50B and Case 580F?

The Ford levers do the same except they are in a + rather than an x formation. Not easy to work when used to the JCB! Am nearly sure the 580F had 3 levers and maybe slew on a pedal.MF--don't know.

the JCB + pattern is ISO so the same as a ford /case /mf running ISO ;)

prefer the X pattern on JCB,s much more fluid
every village has one , is yours missing you

A Case with 3 levers and a foot pedal doesn't sound too good. The Hymac 370c was X-pattern. Presumably the Hymac 270 would be the same?

Some of the (earlier?) Ford 550's and MF 50B's had 4 lever control for the backhoes, not that it ever seemed to faze any of the drivers I saw working the machines! I think 2 lever controls were an option on the Mk 2 50B, not sure when Ford swapped over from 4 to 2 levers.
