A very tidy machine indeed but.........there's something amiss here. Anorak on!! I believe there's a Perkins in it as the exhaust is in the wrong place for a Leyland.Has the later single step into the cab whereas the Leyland engine had two,and the gear lever and shuttle lever have the later style knobs fitted found from 83 on.My 82 3CX has a round black knob on the shuttle and the same type as on a Nuffield on the gear lever, whereas my dad's 83 model is as in the picture.
Would guess the digger is from around 83 with the plate of a different machine fitted?

The rear rims arn't correct either! They should be the same as the 3C with the bracing across the wheel studs?
The v5 would only list the make as JCB, but nothing for the model, so very easy to same the number plate

Sorry for the poor quality photo, there's an old girl working in the background. This was taken when they were building Peterboroughs Queens gate shopping centre which opened in 1982, the photo was taken in 1978. A fair amount of the old Peterborough city centre was demolished to make way for this job

They had. This one has been repainted. It's not a sitemaster either, suggested by the decal.Side windows should also have frames too. Bit of refurbishment and the like been done here!

Looks like the loader arms are from a newer machine as they have a plastic badge and I'am sure the white cabs had a sticker
