Ay up folks.
My ol' man is bringing his arc welder up at the weekend to assist with a large crack on top of the loader. I know there are a variety of different rods out there but would like to use the most suitable given the choice, can any of you good folk recommend or have any experience welding?

Probably use a good mild steel rod like WB2000E or ESAB Mildtrode either 3.2mm or 4mm depending on the capacity of the welder. The smaller rod needs approx. 110-125 amps. The bigger rod needs 120-140 amps. Vee out cracks well and then start to weld.

Hope not to late but here in Aussie we use what is called Ferrocraft Rods first run penetrating welding rod then after that a capping run of Satincraft rod. these are from CIG SUPPLIES, but sure you would have an equivalent in UK good luck.....
