JCB 3 (Not 3C)

Post #1 by Bodysnatcher » Sun Sep 23, 2012 12:32 pm

Hi, just bought a JCB3 (not 3c) based on Fordson, looking for any information on these machines, mine is a 1963, unfortunatey mine has no cab. Looking for a company or anyone who could make a cab for me, or looking for the dimensions so I can make one myself. I am hoping to restore it to somewhere near its former glory, also does anyone know whether the buckets are inter changable betwwen the 3, 3c and 3cx. Many thanks Alastair

Hi there Alastair, It's a common problem with rot in the cabs! I'm also restoring a 3 and repaired my cab so I kind of guess I have the dimensions you need though I am not confident enough to measure it but your are more than welcome to do so yourself, (Im in north dorset) if you do find a tame company to make it I would also order one aswell, depending on a realistic price as I do have another machine in need of a cab too! As for the buckets all 3, 3c and 3cx buckets are interchangable. hope I can be of assistance cheers morgan

Hi Morgan, thanks very much for taking the time to reply, thanks for the offer of me taking my own dimensions however I live in North Aberdeenshire, I have only been able to find 3 or 4 photographs of JCB3s on the net and I am really after any information and photos no matter how trivial and thought this forum would be the best place to find it. Unfortunatley it seems that there is even less information out there than I thought. Many thanks Alastair

A JCB 3 just appeared on Ebay, non original cab but with another machine for spares.
The spares machine has the original cab, so may be worth an enquiry.

Hi all thanks for the replys
Thanks Martyn for suppying the links unfortunately I have read all the information so far on this website regarding JCB3 that I can find however I had not seen the photograph of the JCB3 demolishing the house. Hi stormin Norman thanks for the link to the guy on EBay, I rang him to see if I could twist his arm into selling the cab of the scrap JCB but he was unwilling to sell seperately. The search continues. Thanks for all the help so far, I will have plenty of questions but unfortunately they will all be about the fordson based JCB3. Thanks Alastair
