Replacement 3CX grey cab - anyone making them??

Post #1 by acormack » Tue Feb 18, 2020 2:36 pm

Hi everyone

I have an old 3CX that I was going to sell but now think I'll restore. It has the usual rotten grey cab, does anyone make new cabs as a replacement as I've asked around the breakers but they say cabs and doors are impossible to find for grey cabs.

If the worst comes to the worst it might be time to make a jig and make one up but looking at the profile of the frame it won't be an easy task. Anybody know if someone out there is making them?

I believe black cabs don't suffer this rot but read somewhere JCB had subcontracted the fabrication of the grey cabs but might stand corrected..??

Thanks and any advice would be gratefully received.

Alan

The Black cab also had a glass door which must have been an advantage. Expensive when they break.
Have you tried Vicary Plant?
