I am lead to believe that filters should have a identification number marked on them; if you cannot identify it and you take the old filter out and there is no number on it, let it drain down then take it as a sample to a decent filter supplier they should be able to provide you with the right filter.

If you have got the machine serial number you should be able to go o your local JCB dealer and they should be able to get you one or give you the correct part number which you could then cross reference and get a suitable replacement one for your digger, Are you sure that is a 2D Those really early machines were usually JCB 2 or 2B. The 2 D came along around 69-70 i think and it had the 4cyl leyland 4-98 engine in it, Where as the earlier machines had a 3 cylinder engine. Yours looks quite tidy post a few more pictures please i love the old Jakes

Other pictures to follow. New exhaust and manifold fitted, starts OK, just sorting out some hydraulic leaks on back actor and refresh the hydraulic oil.

It's a 3 cylinder so from the comments received so far, must be a 2 or 2b. Have applied for age related number plate, hope that I get a nice one!

Very nice old machine and also very straight the front grille and bonnet look exceptionally nice and straight it obviously did not have a very hard life. Out of interest what area id you get it from as i knew of a very clean one in Cornwall.

Hi,
Picked it up near Howden (East Yorkshire) and took it back to Holme on Spalding Moor from where it came from in the first place! No knowledge of previous history, but as you say it appears to have had a easy life. All the glass is intact and instruments all cleaned up nice. Meant to check if hours are recorded. On way to getting the cab restored and painted. The "2" plate on the arms is a bit rusty, looking to get one made as I assume that they are not available as spares.

Hi, did you manage to get the cab sorted, if so was it local to Beverley as I’d like mine doing, also do you know anywhere I could get a radiator, or a comparable one
