1984 3cx pump codes

Could anyone please help me with the fuel pump code for a 1984 jcb 3cx running perkins 4.236 with lucas CAV pump. I took the top off the pump and the spring came loose before I could note which hole it was connected to. I have reconnected middle to middle but I'm not sure if this is correct. The motor runs ok but stalls if I completely release the accelerator. Thanks in advance.

So I managed to find out that the code is 5. It was part of the model/serial number. That means that the spring should be connected from the middle hole of the throttle lever to the middle hole of the upright part of the throttle.
