Euclid/Terex TS-14

Post #1 by dozeron » Mon Jun 18, 2007 1:15 pm

The Euclid/Terex TS-14 is a very popular scraper in NZ. I have managed to photograph and video tape quite a few during my time there. I will try to put these two up. This was back in the early 1990s when you could get up close and personal, no bloody chance of that now!!

Dad grew up around Terex and Ac scrapers. In 98 when I graduated highschool I got my first taste of operating a TS14. We were in a big sand cut with thin bands of clay ths first day I figured out I ddnt like no down pressure on te bowl. Otherthan that they were great machines. I normally run a John Deere 762 paddle wheel. I had several embarassing moments in that sand when my only pull axle was in sugar sand and my bowl was in a streak of clay then a Lizard with a woman operator would pass me. THat was a mojo killer there lol. We didnt push them alot of the time just open the apron a few inches and floor both Detroits and drop the bowl a few inches and watch the sand boil up and out. We took both Terex TS 14's and the little 762 and moved more fill than 4 Case Stiegers a Deere artic tractor and a Cat Callenger pulling double bowls. We really moved soil at 3 loads per tract load.

They also did great in wet weather, I ran a 14 for the last employer I worked for. No one would run it as they liked tractor pans. When working I always got dress up duty with my ejector rolled up as a drag scraper.

Good pics Dozeron .
First pic looks like Nolan Magees ; Magnum ; where was that taken ? and whos is the 2nd pics ?.
Damned good scrapers TS14s, 40+ years old and still earning there keep and still the cheapest way to move dirt; so long as you can get on top of it.
Quite amazing the amount you still see around in NZ just waiting for there chance to convert diesel into music and motion.
Cheers Merv
