TS40C snaps.
A few pics of Terex TS40C coal scraper snaps, these gals (4 in total) currently reside at Rugeley powerstation in the midlands, and still earn a living, i use to live about 2 mile from the powerstation and on a calm Sunday morning could hear the roar of the Detroit's as i lay in bed...... somehow the romance of that was lost on the wife

I am down Rugeley at my cousins wedding in a couple of weeks time, I wonder if they'd notice if I slipped away for a few hours and visited rugeley power station!
How old are those machines Stu and what hours are on them?

Ey up Mike,
Not sure on hours but they must be 20 year old at least, they are down to only 1 running at the minute, 1 x down with back transmisson failed, one with front engine failed and one thats in two halves having the swan neck re bored (this one is now having the front engine out to go into the other one........

Interesting information Stu, it sounds like they've seen better days and are on their last legs!
The wedding I mentioned earlier in the thread was this weekend and we were staying at the Premier Inn (Other hotel chains are available folks!) right next to Rugley Powerstation and you can see the coal pile from the carpark, I was hoping I would see the D9 or scrapers working on the pile but sadly it never happened! Guess I will have to make a return journey to see them!

They were bought pre 1990 as they were in the old CEGB liveries at first.Probably 30 years old now?

Don't see why they couldn't still be working in 30 years if they are treated right. There are 2 x Cat 660B scrapers, 2 x Cat 666B scrapers minus the rear engines and a complete 666B scraper still operating 5 and 6 days a week right here in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia and they would be close to 40 years old now, if not more.
Yeah, I know. Electronics and all that. Still, there is nothing today that shifts material quite like those 657's, so if they are still running with fairly minimal problems, why not keep them running, like these old girls around Brisbane?
