Are these machines a popular size in the uk, or are these size machines up against the dozer & box combinations.

Re: CAT 627G PUSH PULL'S
Hello there Dave,
Not many (if any) 627's left in the UK, 631 & 37's tend to be the norm (certanley thats all thats come into the UK new over the past few years), the odd 657G on the powerstations and Becher running 657B's.

Nicky, most likely UK coal or one of the coal contractors,if they first go
to finnings yard then Stuart might enlighten us as to who the owners are.

Re: CAT 627G PUSH PULL'S
I rang Robert the other evening and it was his son Graham who had taken the pics, they reckon the scrapers had been sitting a while and were probally passing through(wonder if I could get a coupla dodgy lowloaders and swap a few of mine, would anybody notice?)
I have three 627B's and one 627A- the only other people with 627's are possibly the Geddes group from Arbroath I think. I do not know of any others in the British Isles

Re: CAT 627G PUSH PULL'S
Neil,I had D8's alongside some of Geddes's scrapers. They were all tidy 627A's.That was in 1993 I think.they were on hire to Miller construction.I don't know if they still have them.I also worked with a lad called Robert Davies. He was from the Midlands I think and we were stripping a coalsite in Scotland. He had 2 627B's,1 very tidy 627A (ex Trodham's) and a deacent 621B.I had 4 D8 and boxes on the job and occasionaly drove the scrapers if there were driver problems. In return he lent me his fitter when I needed him.Billy Geary was looking after the scrapers.I also had a D8 on hire to balfour Beattie on the Preston M6 in 1996.McAlpines 6 627B's were there too.Dick Burr ran 4 627A's untill the early 1990's.Never seen any others apart from your pics.
