Hi, RolyD8K.
M8, THAT is one UNUSUAL crack. I would guess that it would take some substantial force, 'scientifically' applied, to get it back into position ready to weld. I may have missed something but I think I would setting the bowl on the ground and using an excavator to put a load in the bowl to give it some weight. My guess is that the cross-tube is now twisted and that the back end of the left draught arm is lower than the right. Some weight on the drawbar and some lift on the left draught arm, - - - - - - but am I teaching granny to suck eggs?

I like the idea of enlarging the crack sufficiently to get some plates inside then welding them to the edges of the opening and welding up from them. I think I'd still be putting some additional plating on the outside as well. I'd love to see some photos of the steps and finished result that your bloke comes up with. 'Edjyoomackayshunnal', you know.

Hope it all goes well, M8.
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Deas, like you i thought load the bowl with dirt for starters, but no,Spud
came with his mobile workshop and with some welded plate, the help
from his crane and the hoist rams on the scraper with D8,he powered it back
into perfect shape , then welded inside and out, and of
course the hole where it all started from, they say he can picked a D8
up with his hi-ab,he,s saved us a lot of work not having to change the neck
sorry no pictures of the welding, these pictures came from my pusher drivers
mobile phone

Great pictures, Roly. How on earth did he weld the inside of that tube, wasn't the crack near the middle ?

John, the crack was near the outer right hand side, within easyish reach
to weld, i,m told spud welded a piece of steel under the draft arm in such
a way that when the box was powerd down the crack was twisted back
into shape, clever bloke and knows his job
