Great pictures Poncho, thanks for sharing them. Looks like the 24 had some serious impact.

your right Craig it was a wabco. It was on demonstration at Pill dock at avonmouth. had been laid off Public works a muckshifting firm from northern Ireland. They did the muck on the section before Hamptons section north petherton bridgewater. I was on my back to Gloucester and I heard there was a big muckshift on at pill.So I called in to see if there were any jobs.there were no jobs with the main contractor but the wabcos had just arrived on demonstration 3 of them.I got two weeks work demonstrating them until the American driver arrived from the states, works visa problem.every thing was push button,Worked on a click system. amazing machine. driver comfort was five star.

Hi, Folks.
Thanks for sharing your memories of earthmoving on the other side of the world from me. I am still operating and still enjoying it after 46 years but it is getting a little harder to stir myself from between the sheets in the mornings these days.

I very much agree that the best days of earthmoving and construction are gone. Too much regulation and too much paperwork now. University educated types who have minimal practical experience and precious little common nsense either running the shows. Long sleeved shirts and long trousers on all the big jobs - to prevent skin cancer. In a country like Australia with our high temperatures, which is more likely to kill you quickly, skin cancer - - - or heat stroke?

:dizzy:

Thanks again and you all have a Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year.
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
