Thought these photo's would be of interest,the machines were owned by Ted Ambrose,Chesterfield. they were taken in 83'
when we were stripping an extension for Tarmac at Elvaston quarry near Derby. Happy Days

Conventional air con.Sucker fan in winter,blower in summer [just had to keep the fitter happy]

Thanks Alan, great photos. I wonder why a few dump trucks and an excavator seems such a boring way to move earth comapred to a D8 and box ?

Yes Chris
I was the fitter who put the sucker fans for the winter.
I used to do a few shifts on them some times. We had to make do with old Onions boxes.
Great"Raw Power" in those old manual tractors, cab was set of oil-skins in a bag.They could be tireing, but never boring.
Health and saftey was down to common sense.
