Kelston Sparkes had a few scrapers, I think they were TS14s but I've not seen them on a job for a number of years now. The last one I saw working was the one pictured above at Uskmouth Power station, there was an old one there as well but it was standing when I was there.

There's one standing in a field just outside Gloucester on the chepstow road, it was standing there with what looked like a nice Terex 82-30 dozer so it must belong to a serious collector. If I get that way again I'll call in and ask if I can take a photo or two.

Loved the photos. This 69 year heart missed a beat or two when I saw them. Dear Lord make me a young man again. poncho.

Kelston Sparks ran a team of TS24's that were sent to the Forest of Dean to be cut up and shipped to China.

I retired a few years ago and now live in Canada but work for many years in the 60s and 70s as a scraper driver. I eventually learned some sense and spent the remained of my time driving D8 and box. I looved the job and travelled all over the UK but my back is now knackered and I blame it all on bouncing around on those old TS 14's etc. Wonder how many other ex scraper men have a srewed up back because of them.

Were scrapers more bouncy to drive than dumpers, loaders etc? Was it due to the higher travel speeds or the wider tyres and neck design?
