I seem to recall these being advertised for sale for use behind Bristol Taurus track type tractors in the 1950s.
They were advertised as a Bristol scraper. :ugeek:

Hi Wabco Man,
Your right, I remember the Condor being advertised with the Bristol crawlers in the 50's too.
( You must be an old stager like me).
 I saw one working behind a Bristol 25 about 1953/4. Not many hydraulic boxes about then. Capacity was 1-1/2 yards

my mate had one of those but without the front wheels, it just had a box draw bar. we never got it work very well IIRC. Think we pulled it with the tractor as no rear services on the drott to plug it in.

Yes, that is the exact advertisment I was referring to - well done !
I believe the Americans refer to this kind of scraper as a "tumblebug" due to the way it dumps its load.
Originally designed & manufactured by Condor.

Hi, Wabcoman.
I think the real tumblebug is the old style of drawn drag scraper that skidded along on its belly when loaded and turned turtle to dump its load. It was then dragged back to the cut in the upturned position and turned over again to begin cutting. It had no wheels and no hydraulics, just a trip rope and a couple of dog catches. I probably have a photo or two of them but can't just get my grubby mitts on them at the moment.
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
