R McCULLOUGH & SONS SCRAPER AT BALLYMENA TO KELLS LINK ROAD.
Went up to Ballymena to see McCullough,s TS24s working on the link road. Look to be in good order with motors running great, push loaded by a D9H. Met a engineer from F.B. McCann,s and he said that the muckshifting could be put back 6weeks because the archeologist dig has found something important. Just as the weather turns up good.

Hi Noel,
Two years ago I worked for a company based in Leicester called MMC (Merriman McCullough Crushing) it was run by the McCullouch brothers Tom, Denver,Nigel the father Sam and the younger son Jason. I just wondered if you knew of them.
Regards
Andrew

Thanks for posting Noel, great pictures. Its funny how scrapers seem to be making a comeback. I havent seen any used on a road job here in Ireland for years. Its great to see.

PK1200, about a months work, the hill where the photos where taken has to go the other direction to words the Kells road, there are 4 scrapers on the job. Broken piston, it is great to see scrapers working, the right conditions on short haul nothing can touch them. Talking to the Engineer on site he could not believe how quick they where moving muck, most engineers are brough up on bendy toys (ADT) and back hoes and have not worked with scrapers.

For comfort the D6, you are not tired at the end of shift but for pushing the drivers like the 65p, they do not like driving the D6R.

Young Chaz,I know the McCullough team apart from Jason?.They bought a D8 off me many years ago then a scraper a few years later.Denvor drove a D8 for me back in 1998 in Widnes near Liverpool.I also bought a D8 to break with Tommy off RJ Weaver contracts. They were good lads to deal with.I lost contact with Tommy about five years ago.Where is he?.
P.S,I don't fany been sat in one of those 24's in this heat!
