Well its funny you say that Graham, as I have the D4D and onions there now..........if the D4 does 10 loads an hour, thats 70 cube an hour and 700 cube a day!!

just made up a push block for the back of it so the D6 can give her a nudge as it has a bit of a weak steering clutch.
which has shown up now Dick has put lower 1st and second gears out of a 951 shovel in the gearbox.......just havent had time to put her right.

The D8 on the 90 box has just broken two exhaust valve outer springs on no 6 and 4 pots.its a real bitsa this one!
its a 270 horse tractor with a 235 68a motor, a turbo off a merc truck....but by God will it pull!!! it will load that 90 in second gear!

lots more pics to come.

With the optional greedy boards,(which have been cut off this one) it will hold 35 cubic yds....its a BIG box! weighs in at 17.5 tons empty.
The 491 scraper superceded the 90 and held 37 yds. ;)

Great pictures, Dave. It's good to see these old machines (including the compressor  still earning their keep.
Pity about the weather of late, but it ought to dry up a bit soon and let you get some muck shifted

Dave,
Did you follow up on the Onions 9/11 box i mentioned?

Where did you get your 90 box from, I wasn't aware of any left in the Country?

It would be nice to publish a few words and pictures about it in the next issue of the magazine if you would be interested?

Keep updated on progress.

Regards, David

Hi Dave, what does it say on the muckrail on the 90,I can't read it as it's too small
Superb pics by the way. That's ALOT of hard graft with big hammers and bars etc to get those two D8's in that shape. They are really tidy and the boxes match.Well done. It's nice to see them working too. With 100,000 cube of muck to move you should make a few quid with them.Sorry to hear about the valves pinking out.Any damage to the pistons?.
P.S I am one of the few that like your choice of winch.I have one in bits if you need anything, linkages, brake band, and more.Beer money for me buys you alot if your stuck.Mine is the later 88G series. As you probably know they are all frustratingly different!
Keep up with the progress reports

Hi Dave just wondered where abouts you are based as you said the other side of fram
from me, is the job local. Hope you didnt get all the rain we had friday night saterday
and sunday or it will be a bit tacky on monday. your winches were all right when new
but I preferred the older winch bit more forgiving when pushing out a big load of clay

Hi all!
John, I do hope that it does dry up!

David, yes, It would be good to see the old girls in the mag.
I have it on good authority that only 2, 90 scrapers were ever brought into the country.

Nicky, Thanks! both tractors have new pin and bush and new or rebuilt bottom rollers and idlers, segments etc etc.
The 128 winch fitted is one of the last made.the one with the teflon seals and is completely different to the earlier 128's although the serial No is still 88G.

Roly, thanks for the kind words!

Bob, I agree that the 25 and 29 winches were a lot easier to adjust and were a lot more forgiving! the other D8 has a 29 fitted.
