I was thinking something like that fella I worked with in the Latrobe Valley Victoria had a Maroon one of them and it did go quick only took me for a ride once and bum was fairly sucked down to the seat let tell ya he bought it as a investment one of 50 or so Im guessing its the same model all the numbers matched but the motor had been worked -----------------------A LOT LOL

Apparently Thomas contracting have bought one of those Ertech scrapers in your photo,s rare ss.It was a 39 so that makes 5 in the family now.

Hi Elfonz, I spotted a Thomas 639D at the Airport road works job near Tonkin Hwy, it was Ertech's old one S2.. knew that machine pretty well over the years

Gday Rare,do you know how many scrapers Ertech still have and would they mainly be 33,s?.It surprises me the demand for a newer model 39 isnt there considering how much better they are in the sand .It can be a hard slog for 33,s in sand and considering the amount of subdivisions and mineral sand mines around the world 39,s are just right i found.Couple of jobs i done on 33,s where very hard on the machine and not enjoyable for me either.I used to think poor old girl needs a back motor for sure.I think it proved how good the trannies and drive lines in them are though because of the strain put on them.

When I left them around 2010 they still had 7 (633D x4 633G x2 & the 639D) but not too sure these days.. the scrapers were parked for a long while after Ravensthorpe finished up, we sent them over to Roxby Downs.. the 639 did well at knocking the tops off the dunes then the 33's shifted the harder stuff, there was a heap of ADT's which is there 'easier' way to shift bulk dirt, it's hard to attract and retain good scraper ops these days, same as mechanics to keep the things going!

I wouldn't be surprised if they move on their whole scraper fleet as they have moved into more oil, gas & marine projects these days, subdivision work is very tight as

Your not wrong about the subdivision work being hard to get.Vincents have got it by the balls i reckon,they were paying scraper operators 24 flat an hour 18 months ago,i had done the medical and was ready to sign up when she told me the rate.I thought she was joking but no so i said no thanks and left.At that rate they can under cut all others and thats why they get so much subdivision work.They have 17 scoops too so they shift it cheap and fast.The others like Ertech,Wormall etc cant match them so its off to look for other avenue,s unfortunately.I ve noticed there is more big civil jobs for scrapers ,the last 2 years doing roads,dam,s and even stripping overburden for mines so all,s not lost.
