post here hope its right

in the sixty's and early seventy's the muck shifting jobs nearly all used to close down from just before Christmas until march or when the weather got better and most of the drivers where laid off. Then you used to get your tax back monthly so with the dole you could live if you could not find a temp job. Brick-es and laborers where also laid off.
the only firms and wealthy had phone connected the rest of us had to go to use to use phone boxes. When firms wanted you to go back there would send telegram here is some I found which I had sent until I had phone installed in 1973 it cost£40 to install then GPO ripoff .
