A name from the past, Wally Balsdon.I used to live in Poltimore, Devon, about a mile from Wally. In the early 1980's his lowloader transported a Terex dozer from Bude to Exeter. It was a very eventfull trip.

The company I worked for went to a bypass site near Bude. One of our tasks was to load up a Terex dozer, can't remember the type, but it had one centre mounted ram and an oil cooler on the rear.
Anyway,we had to transport the machine to Stoke Cannon. The trip back was going quite well until the driver said "something has hit us up the rear end " We stopped and made our way to the rear of the lowloader. An Allegro driven by an elderly gent had crashed into us.The blade of the dozer was ontop of his nearside door pillar. The couple in the car were shaken but very lucky with no injuries.
After that was sorted out we carried on reflecting how close they came to being killed.
