Wonder where the trolley bus photo was taken? I can still recall the ones run by Walsall Corporation when I was a kid.

I was led to believe by an independent Cummins injection specialist that was down to inadequate cooling provision in the Ford trucks. In mobile plant where larger capacity radiators were generally installed they could be very reliable - our two clocked over 16,000 hrs with little if any attention before a precautionary rebuild.

Tony I think they were a bad engine like the V6. I know from a former Cummins man that there were crankshaft breakages amongst other issues; also somewhere I have or did have an advert for the re-launched version that was fitted into a few Ford Cargo trucks and the caption on the brochure was "V8's Vindicated" or words to that effect, even Cummins could not deny the problems, however it is also true that some vehicle manufacturers caused issues with engines they 'shoe horned' into their chassis.
