What is that beast in the first pic.
Norm.

Hi Norm,
The beast is a Trackson Shovel on a Cat D7.
Here's a pic. I took of one at Russell Seyward's open day a little while back.

Great pics Steve  love the 'D' series with the knock out back axle low-loader trailer and the Fine Fare supermarket in the background, brings back a few memories, wonder if the 'D' series was one of the units fitted with the Cummins V8 504 or the Perkins V8?

The Cummins V8 had a terrible reputation Steve; I recall Chas Penn & Sons the scrapyard where I got to operate the Hymacs had a D series with the Cummins V8 the registration number was SEA15G it was itself scrapped a long time before the older D series with the Ford 2700 engine.

That Ford D Series brings back some great memories of my childhood, riding round the quarries of South Wales with my Dad! D1000 turbo custom cab with western style wing mirrors and under bumper guard to protect the rad , when lorries had chrome parts, brilliant photo :claphands:

A lot of people out here laugh at the D series these days but they don't realize what quantum leap they were compared to anything else around

They were so well liked Ford had a up grade kit to put the Cat 3208 V8 in them as weights went up

The Cargo never sold as well which was a shame as it always seemed very good value for money

Great photos

Nice Poclain HC300 face shovel  Wonder where the trolley bus photo was taken? I can still recall the ones run by Walsall Corporation when I was a kid.
