Hi Norman,
I didn't look closely enough at the pic. You are quite right.
The drive sprocket must be behind the top of the centre wheel.
Would there have been room for a triple drive sprocket and another short chain, (which would be out of sight), to drive the centre wheel
It is a puzzle

Wow! Three years ago, almost to the day I asked about a particular type of loader which turned out to be a Bray HS4000. Lo and behould, second pic down I do believe is just such a machine, so somewhere one survives. Thanks for posting.

Would there be a small idler cog each side of the center wheel just behind the tyre so the chain runs up over then has a good wrap around under the cog then up over the other idler to keep the chain in contact? The top chain could then run over a third higher idler to keep it up out of the way of the drive?

Any one able to ID the machine?

Reckon you've nailed it With centre axle drive probably - idlers adjustable to take up chain slack.

Thanks for the graphics. If you only knew how long I spent trying to describe that so it made sense!!!
Looking at the Berliet with the lowloader and 360, is this one of those situations where he drives along the trailer, takes most of the weight off the drive axle, and the whole lot goes skating down the hill?
