Do they spin the drawbar around and hook it on the rear of the float ?

That's a great question Paul  also wonder how they got it on the trailer as it looks like a 'knock out' back axle job?

Interesting - yes it is quite possible, but depends how it fitted - the one shown below (only pic I can find) has the extra axle set further back, but the one in your York advert pics show it quite close to the tractor's axle, just like the recovery picture.

Also depends on date of the low loader picture - would it have been taken before the York attachment was developed?

Hi,
I never saw them load a scraper like this so I asked an Ex. Ryans man.
Apparently the scraper bowl was blocked up on the trailer bed. Then with the trailer jacked up and the scraper wheels turned first one side then the other there was just room to wheel in the two back bogies.
The drawbar was then secured so that the scraper wheels were ridged.
I must say the scraper must have been well chained down not to move side to side on the turns when the scraper wheels contacted the road :?: :?: :?:

I'm not quite sure when the York invention came on the market... Other option is that it was a in-house solution? Didn't Sid Harrison converted some Scammell's just like that?

Stumbled upon these gems... don't know if they've been posted before...

Cheers, Patrick

The Pickfords picture - Why are the cab windows paneled over?
The Antar picture - Is that a Rottinoff behind?
If a LandRover doesn't leak oil, it's run out.

Could it be a Pacific? Not a home-made cab I've seen before. The load looks like a Ransomes 490 shovel, but plate says 442?

It looks like Harrison stretched the chassis and added a middle non-steer axle supported on airbags. See:
