ok these first two pictures from Ballards transport from Longreach QLD I think I put up a whole heap of stuff on them some time ago on this thread Image
Image

This one shamelessly flogged from the inter web FB stuff of a Ford D 1000 with a tilting tag trailer a little D4 and a 40 scoop I reckon even the cops in Australia would have conniptions if they saw that today
bloody good photo of people having a crack back in the day

Image

Next photo is of Tom Kruze most famously known for his documentary roll in the "Back of Beyond " google around a bit for a look at it

Image

And this is how I like to operate a crawler tractor even better if it is a old D 7 I reckon they were the best balanced and made tractors ever but someone will may just disagree with me there

Anyway this one is about as good as they get to untrained eye big long mud guards for the dust and a nice big sun hat live hydraulics and a little helper there beside you, I have a photo somewhere of my own son sitting next to me on my old 7 somewhere like that must dig it out

Paul I was lucky enough to have a go on 3 old D7s in my youth days. One farm had 2 they were different ages and series (17A one of them??) One pulled a 7 furrow reversible plough and the other on some kind of cultivator. Both the old boys driving let me spend the afternoon with them (my week day off). Ploughing on the land took some concentration to keep the front furrow matching. The 3 was on a farm I spent several summer seasons on and was used for moling and tree tugging with a winch. All three drivers are long gone all were very different people but they were good to me as a student.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for posting. I wonder who "will may just disagree."  I spent a lot of time round D7s of all descriptions and they were and are good tractors.
One of my claims to fame was when a pin came out of a governor weights on a D7E, it dropped into the timing case and took two teeth off the camshaft gear.
The gear is all in one with the shaft and a replacement at the time, (1968), cost what they paid me in wages for six months work. I was asked if I could repair it. I said "No Way" but ended up building up the two teeth with weld and dressing them up as best I could. I put it back in the engine and it was miraculously still running when the tractor was sold six years later.
Below is a interesting comparison of a Fowler 33 (125hp.) and a D7E (160 hp.) on the same work which I lifted from the Robert Fearnley website.

I've been trying to recognise the Allis Chalmers behind the Leyland unit in the black and white pic. I looked after five HD 16s for a couple of years and later used to run a 21P (power-shift) myself but I'm not sure what model is in your pic, from the position of the exhaust, air-cleaner and air pipe under the hood I think it may be a 21.
I'm sure I've seen the sun roof on that D7 before. Could it have been at the Allora show a few years back :?: :?:

Fred Im not gunna argue with you as I dunno much about Fowlers at all but theres a fella near Toowoomba that is the Fowler man in Australia or so I have been told I reckon he even gets on here some times
Anyway I reckon the older D7's are the go the 3T 7M's 17A's etc are the best of the Cats or course thats only my opinnion

Thats a HD 21 on the back of the Super Hippo

I havent been to Allora for a couple of years due to drought but at I havent seen that 7 at any of the shows I have been to but then again I dont get out much or not where all the shows are anyway

I have shared dunno if it was on here or on the Track Marshall face book site of Fowler Challenger 3's working in Australia I could find them again may take me a while though

Hi Paul,
I Thought that was an HD21.
The fellow in Towumba is a good friend Don Scouller. On here he's Marshall MP6. I have spent a few weeks in his company, stayed under his roof, enjoyed his hospitality and driven his MP6.
My wife and I went with Don and his wife Mary from Towumba up to Townsville to pick up a Dynamometer for his local vintage group. They took us up inland and back down the coast, stayed at a few motels overnight I think we travelled well over 2,000 K on that trip. Brilliant :!: :!: :!:

yeah thats the fella last time I tried to catch up with Don he was at a wedding at Winton must be 1200 km north west of Toowoomba

It would nearly be a 3000 km round trip from Toowoomba to Townsville and you would have almost driven past the farm within a few km's were about a hour south of Townsville on the coast road
