However I've seen pictures of this crane (like the one in this thread) on the later Dodge 500 series chassis so did they build more ? When was the Dodge 500 introduced ?

Thanks Craig

Always looking for snippets of info like that for the Encyclopedia.
will add it to Whitlock page (with ref to source here) ;)

Sorry no idea when Dodge 500 built :(

Thanks Dave

Great pictures Steve, and they certainly jog my memory:

The first Haulamatics were built on Commer chassis/cabs like the green AH tipper before they started building their own complete trucks. Wonder how they stood up to the rigours of site work with the semi-auto box?

And the Dodge mixer with the MBZ badges was one of a fleet working on the Dinorwig pumped storage hydro scheme.

Info on Whitlock cranes I have is they built twenty between 1965 and 67 on the Dodge D309 (LAD cab) chassis. They were 7ton all hydraulic with a 24ft-78ft jib .1965 price £6,985.

Info from old mag but I think Dodge 309 is misprint and should read Dodge 308

I'm pretty certain the 500 series was introduced in 1964 :?:

Wouldn't fancy hand balling the artic full of bagged cement not on pallets.
Anyone know what the machine is you can see the rear of in front of the Dodge Commando SNU604R.

Craig
I believe this machine to be a SAMBRON S25 4X4 forklift.

Interesting Machine reminds me of a loading shovel with forks grafted on (i.e a Shed built job).

Well, the headline on the Construction News advert for SAMBRON at the time said:

"Its more than a forkin' shovel"

so your idea is not far wrong!

:D

They always reminded me of a praying mantis ,had good forward reach though ,think they predated the telescopic handlers.
