JCB 4 Wanted

Post #1 by Martyn Henley » Fri Oct 12, 2012 2:26 pm

Hi all, if any one knows where there is a JCB4 for sale or even rusting in a hedge somewhere, please let me know.... dont really care in what sort of condition the machine is, as the people that are after one have the resources to rebuild it.
Please PM me

Hi Pete, there was a revamped JCB 4 that was styled same as the 4C, and when JCB dumped Fordson they stuck the Nuffield skid steer in and it became the 4C and this was around 65/66..... and yes the rear "A" frame could lift the machine off the ground, not the same height as jack legs though.

Thanks Martyn. I was thinking that I have never actually seen a 4 in the flesh. There were always plenty of 3s and later 3Cs around but perhaps I was mainly looking at smaller building sites.

Actually Pete, when i was a young lad in Worcester the walk to school and back was full of JCB4's and 4C's .. on the main road just down the road from where i lived they was redoing the main road drainage, it was a deep dig and Droitwich construction who was doing the job had 2 JCB4's working on the job, just off the main road was a smallish site of about 30 bungalows, there was a Hydra digger and a JCB4 working on that site, and a bit further up was another housing site, and on there was a brand new 4C and an older 4 .. needless to say i used to take my time walking home, the year was 1966
