Must be difficult loading in the snow - remember couping into a few potholes in the snow for obvious reasons - when it's all melted people just think you've been daft :dizzy:

Yes Chris,it's even worse trying to walk over to the bloody thing with a torch at 6.30am.I allways tried to park them near to a road but it wasn't allways possible when you were soil stripping for a new road.

Here's one of the Biwater blue and white Cats that was on the same section as Nicky.

I had mentioned them in the O & K dumper thread as well.

I wonder if it is the one seen in retirement in the bushes in a small ad at the back of CP & M a while back? :?

A pretty poor blown-up section of a photograph from fifteen years ago with the machines of I & H Brown 'landscaping' Fallin's Polmaise Colliery bing - this was the mine where the miner's strike began!

Notice the Shellabear D8 on the left hand side.

My dad worked on the plant maintenance in the pit, and I loved a walk to the top of the bing with him. It was about two and a half times higher then, and worth the climb for the view.

Smith dragline working on roadworks in North West Scotland.

It was owned by Morrison Construction (now part of Galliford Try) and was originally from Alexander Sutherland Limited.
