There were pictures of a large Ainscough Mobile driving to the site on the news last night.

Looking at that second picture its a wonder the whole lot did not come down. The recovery job will not be for the feint hearted. Good luck to all concerened.
Out of interest Tristam, what is the highest you would be able to recover a tower crane with that mobile, and what sort of weight can you cope with. I guess if you can get close enough weight is not an issue.

Pictures if possible on this job please. Apparently the mast sections and the tie bars that attach the crane to the building were undamaged, but i am sure the whole lot will becoming down. Then a replacement one put up not the best weather to be doing it in.

Does anyone have an idea of the weight of the counter weights? I've seen McNallys placing the hub/generator modules on wind turbines - how would this compare?

Looks around five tonne segments and there are four of them job to telll from photo.The recovery of this crane would make interesting viewing.What a job !
