Hrm, thats very odd!

Most of the crawler cranes I see around this area tend to be either Kobelco or IHI machines, typically with capacities greater than 50tons. There are still a few NCK Rapier machines kicking around here and there but not so many. The tracks as far as I am aware all seem to be of the more regular type you'd expect. Dad always called them "cleats" although perhaps there is another name?

This is probably the best picture showing the tracks of a crawler crane that I have - and this one is a mystery machine that I'm unable to ID the model number for - a large Liebherr crawler crane. If anyone can help, please let me know!

Maybe the smaller ones have the more excavator-style undercarriage but the Manitowoc 4100W's (230tonners) at former Swan Hunter's yard have the "cleats" as well...

Excellent! That Liebherr has had me puzzled for years!

Well, I can add only one more picture to this thread unfortauntely although I will certainly continue to follow it.

This was a machine working in Thailand (I think) during the construction of a Whiskey distillery. As I recall being told, the Komatsu-Bucyrus 22B/Ruston-Bucyrus 22RB and the Bucyrus-Erie 22B were virtually the same.

I may have a close-up picture of the cab/body & crawlers somewhere.

I also remember a picture of this machine being fitted with a clamshell, although it was partially hidden behind a dumptruck...
