:claphands: Great collection David - Not so many about know ;) Plenty sat in HTC yard by the M1 north of Sheffield in bits.

There are some good ones on the Skyscrapercity Site with some brilliants shots taken from the tops of some of them by the drivers or site engineers on the Highrise Jobs.

Heres one or two of mine mainly of a crane being erected;

Nice Pictures there i will put some more on myself once i have rotated and saved them again!! Most of the UK's tower cranes are in yards at the moment, i just hope this recession ends and we start getting a few more up again then my phone might start ringing with a few job offers again!

:thumbup: Good selection.

That wolf 320 must be a good sizes as it has a tapered mast

The cab on the Blue Falcon one looks abit dodgy :?

The one with the 2 piece jib looks more like a dock side crane

I've not see many rail mounted ones these days, often just appear to stick 3 or 4 on the job instead. Last one i saw was on Don Vally Stadium for the student games in the 1980s i think.

The folding jib crane is a Thornborgs known as a Magni this is the slightly larger version there are two. I love these they are a great old crane some people will disagree but that is my opinion. The Big Wolf was on 80mtr of mast a fair old climb in the mornings for someone. The tatty old blue cab was on an old Potain 646 THE FRONT OF THE CAB IS HINGED AND OPENS FOR THE OPERATOR TO GET IN!! believe or not that old machine was on a job in london only 5 years ago!

That is a dificult one to answer Liebherr has always been the Rolls Royce they have a large cab with plenty of room nice controls and progressive slew heat sensitve t bar controls on the new ones, but the nice thing is you can back notch them on slew where as most others you can't, i qiute like the new Potain vision cab too, No two machines really drive the same as you can have so many configerations ie jib lenths some are really sharp and others much slower, some are smooth on slew others go off in a jolt (great) Wolff are a good machine too, After an hour or so you soon adjust to the crane you are on.

These are very tall cranes and their construction is done in sections. Best used for skyscraper and tall building construction, this type has the looks of a long ladder with the boom being perpendicular to the base.
