Ainscough AC650 Collapse.

Post #1 by Joes1989 » Sun Nov 30, 2008 11:28 pm

Hey Guys,

Just a heads up that Ainscoughs Terex-Demag AC650 has collapsed during rigging. Apparently it happend in Ipswich. By the picture ive seen on DHS it looks like a total write off. I think about 160t of Counterweight has collapsed onto the cab and engine of the carrier.

Dont know if anyone else has heard this but i just thought id let you all know.

Im going to try and get permission to post the picture on here.

Joe

Interesting pictures.

actual smashed lumps off the counter weights :o

The fracture in the chassis looks like its torn a welded joint in the chassis rails :?:

Will it be written off the One million Euro question :?:

Probably worth putting on a new carrier if the boom etc is ok , or sell the Crane body / turret and jib etc for mounting on a barge as a floating crane

If the world crane markets dropped recently more likely to write off but if still tight supply then makes rebuilt value higher. IMHO

when i looked round it in the yard, there was actually three breaks in the chassis

it self loaded itself on the our trailer, then to go to germany the turret was removed and it went in two big loads and a few small ones back to the factory

and as it's not the first time its broke at that point.. plus a couple of years they twisted the boom on this crane we took it to germany where it was upgraded to SSL and also the relveant electronics were upgraded so thats another reason to rebuild it

and talking to guys that run it, it will out perform liebherr's LTM1800 at close radius...
