Re: Vintage Cats
b 100,
The D6 has been on the farm since the 50's and was the main workhorse until well into the 70's when it was eventually retired due to gearbox problems, to be replaced by a D4D and then a D4E VHP.
It was parked up for the best part of 20 years, only started occasionally to move from one resting place to another.
2 years ago a relative of my boss (who is also a crawler enthusiast) decided to hold an informal working day and so with a good service and a bit of a tune up it returned back to action.
The D2 was bought last year, from the same relative, as a restoration project. After having the magneto refurbed, and having a bit of a tinker with the donkey engine we got it started and it's done a few laps round the yard That's as far as we've got.
I should imagine that both machines will stay pretty much as is, as the boss prefers to see them in their working clothes rather than in showroom condition
