Caterpillar power to the rescue !

Post #1 by John Gaunt » Mon Sep 21, 2009 10:38 pm

When the combined power of a 100Hp New Holland 4wd tractor and Sanderson Teleporter were not enough to grub out a pine tree, caterpillar power was resorted to in the form of my trusty 70 year old D7 7M. The 80dhp machine pulled out the tree without breaking sweat !

Well i don't know , i think i would prefer dodging chain links than a wire rope whipping back at me . Years ago watched my dad on a cat d68u clearing a steep hill under a power line .He would push down the hill ,then winch the dozer back up again The chain round the anchor tree stump broke and sent the winchrope straight back at the dozer. He ducked down behind the fuel tank and the wirerope came through the canopy and took the exhaust stack out . ian.

Yep, it's three joined together. We didn't have a single chain long enough for the job.
