Re: Vickers VR180
Anyone know how the tracks are tensioned on that thing ? And is it a different version of a Vigor ?
Six up front .............................means plenty of grunt.
Re: Vickers VR180
Hi Dave
I checked my other photos there looks like a large spring at the front of the machine, hope this helps.

Hi Scooby,
The tracks on the vickers were self tensioning.
The front pair of wheels on each side were free to oscilate round a central mounting as required to follow ground levels. The axles were cam mounted and connected by a heavy tension spring to compensate for this movement and maintain track tension. This can be seen in the cuttaway drawing below.
The Vigor was basicaly the same tractor but the 180 h.p. Rolls engine was replaced by a 210 h.p. unit. The Vigor was also available with a 210 h.p. Cummins engine.
