I was busy yesterday marshalling for a South Norfolk Ladies Road run to raise money for Breast Cancer research.
This road run is organised by some friends of ours and has been going for a few years, they have raised a HUGE amount of money through sponsorship.
We only had a couple of problems, one lady had forgotten to push in the stop button before trying to start her tractor, this is no great surprise, as few if any ladies would have driven a machine which didn't stop and start on the key only, in fact quite a few men would have the same problem !
Here are a few pictures, our support vehicle is my son's 1956 Land Rover series 1 fire engine. My better half is driving the BMC Mini. She tried out several tractors from my son's collection (of Nuffields) and settled on the mini, which performed faultlessly.
As you can see, decoration of the machines is a key element of the road run.
In all 91 Ladies started the course, and all finished with no serious mishaps !
The distance was around 20 miles.

The attachment on the front of the Fordson is rather unusual, the purpose of the fund raising event gives a clue (if you needed one) as to what it is - they are - to be more precise .
We were all wondering if the lady on the Dexta in the second picture one would fly round the course in double quick time

Well done ladies, great to see money been raised for cancer. When it hits your son, you then realize how important these fun runs are to rise funds. God bless you all, Noel.

Looked like a fun day out with a good cause. I think its quite amazing everybody finished, 20miles is a long way on vintage stuff and multiply that by all the participants and you have even more of a amazing feat!
