Hi Guys,
I have been renovating a Fergy 35X for a while, I am in the middle of rebuilding the Hydraulic pump.
I bought a renovation kit: Pistons/housing/bushings and O-rings
Everything seemed to go back together OK until I Torqued the pump housings to 50 lb/ft and found I could no longer turn the shaft and pump.
Stripped it all down again, double checked the orientation of bushes etc. Re-assembled -- same problem.
Stripped it all down again, used the old bushes - re-assembled -- same problem
Stripped it all down again, used a micrometer and measured the old bushes and the new, one of the new bushes was 100micron wider than the old, so I assumed that it was this when tightened up against the pump casings were causing it to "lock"
Machined the bush so it was exact size to the others -- re-assembled -- same problem.
Stripped it all down again, cleared the bench, nice new sheet of paper on the bench and lined up the old and new Pistons and Housings, measured everywhich way with the micrometer and tabled everything. There are slight differences between the old cast Pistons and the new, but seems to be more cosmetic and is not where it could cause locking.
I have no way of knowing what the Torque was before I stripped it down,
so my question is: the Torque setting should be 50-50 lb/ft ~68-73 nm.
I can tightend the bolts to around 30 lb/ft ~40 nm and the pump turns by hand freely (though nice and tight) will this do ?
If not, as I suspect, where do I go next (I am going to rebuild using all the old parts, see what happens at 50 lb/ft !!!)
