I have a MF 590 that has recently had a new hydraulic pump and IPTO clutch pack fitted. It has worked fine for two months but has now started to drop the lift arms when revving. At idle they work and hold up when switched off. The pressure at idle is 2500PSI but drops when revved to zero. Have checked standpipe o rings. Has anyone ever had this problem or know anything else to check?

Log in to one of the Farming forums if you can. There will be a ton of knowledge on there and some of it useful! There may be be someone here but less likely. Presumably the 590 with MP and IPTO has a similar hydraulic system to the earlier series ending in 8 and the later 200 and 300 series. Wonder if it could be a RV malfunctioning??

The only thing that immediately comes to mind, and please don't take offence at this suggestion (!), is the oil level ok?
If it's very low I visualise that at tickover the oil is swilling around the pump where it can get at it but at high revs the oil there is being thrown around more and can't be scavenged. A steady slow leak over a couple of months would achieve this effect. Another thought would be correct type and grade of oil? A general breakdown of an incorrect type of oil could have an effect.
Whatever you find out and however you solve the problem please keep us informed, this is an interesting one!

You might have it Hair Bear, scavenging air/oil when revved and putting air into the system and lift cylinder which I guess would make it drop.

I had the advantage of driving a T and a V reg in 1979/80 and they were a huge improvement on the old MF 188. Steering a bit sensitive but the cabs were easy to climb into, flat floor and some dust protection. One was a bit slow on the road for some reason but fitted with Opico turbos they pulled well.
