A couple of Countys

Post #1 by hair bear » Fri Jun 26, 2015 12:32 am

I think this one may have been the factory ex-demo. The pic was taken around the time of the launch of the 1174FC. It was parked/abandoned there for a long time then suddenly vanished, it's fate unknown

We know where this one is now, but this pic was taken showing it's first incarnation at the Royal Show where it was being used to recover the tractor pulling trailer and level the track.

Now you're asking - I ought to know as I'm sure it was the the Golden Jubilee year but it currently escapes me.

it would have been around 1978/79......in 1980 the 1184s appeared

the one in the picture has the later Delachoux wheels and top hinged side windows making it one of the later 1174s

Indeed 1979 was County's 50th year.
That tractor ran around for a couple of years in that colour scheme before being repainted and sold by Osbournes in Hampshire.

At that time Tom Osbourne (Mark's father) was heavily involved with tractor pulling which had only just arrived in U.K.
