I understand that the rubber tracked machines are not so good for earthmoving due to belt (rubber track) slippage and consequent wear. I still feel that if you don't need to go on or cross the public road, steel tracks take a bit of beating.
The STX has posi-drive lugs in the tracks so there's no slippage, unlike the Deere or Cat which relies entirely on the friction between the drive wheel & track. Also when you turn it on the headlands of the fields it won't spew the soil up.
I think the key thing to remember when it comes to construction work is that these machines were never designed to replace a 450hp motor scraper, something that gets forgotten easily when they put them in to conditions where the wheeled machine just sinks in deep, or expects them to work in rocky conditions which just tears the tracks up
