David Brown 1290 exhaust manifold connection????

Post #1 by bullraiser » Wed May 09, 2012 6:25 am

My DB has an open half inch male connection on the lower side of the manifold. Exhaust escapes at this point thru about a 5mm hole in the fitting. I would like to know it's purpose. Is it standard? Can I block it off? Thanks for any suggestions :D

It's main purpose is as a rainwater drain point from the manifold. I think it should have a small tap fitting in there, similar to the one on the water jacket of the block and at the bottom of the radiator.
If you keep the tractor indoors or cap the pipe with a bean can there's no reason it shouldn't be blanked off.
