Post #1 by Ian Fletcher1970 » Thu May 26, 2011 10:32 pm

Here's a selection of pictures from 1st cut Silage time last weekend on my mates Dairy Farm. There's more to post when I get the time.

Dry weather for it anyway,

when does he expect a second cut this year if this rain doesn't turn up

Here in the dry South East the first cut was a bit light and as the grass is already setting seed it's not going to do much more growing until the autumn flush....... and still no proper rain!

Well, With a bit of rain and some slurry, the grass grew sufficiently to get a second cut on 25/26th July that topped up the pit significantly, so much that the last few fields were baled rather than being chopped. I'll post some pictures in the week when time permits. :dizzy: :dizzy:
