New Holland 1540
After the old NH135 the first new combine i bought was in 1970 a NH1540 did,nt worry about cabs then just tie a kercheif around your face to keep the dust out,then they brought out the air-stream helmet trouble is it got in the way of having a fag,then there was the straw burn did,nt have any slug trouble after a good burn ,then put the kerchief back on to cultivate in the ash,then a good steam clean before going to bed -ready to do it all over again the next day .

Could any of you guys explain the different models ie how each series corresponded to the follow on range? i mean is a 8040 the same combine as a 1540?

roughly speaking 1520 > 8030 (75hp engine), 1530 > 8040 (100hp 6cyl) 1540S > 8050/8055 (5 walker machines), 1545 > 8060 & 1550 > 8070...or thereabouts.....after that when they went TC & TX is a bit of a mystery without sitting down to compare drum sizes, seive areas and whether or not it had a rotary seperator
