I think it was a one off built for a customer. Its a bit of a Frankenstein machine built of parts of other machines. I bet other 25M will follow if it works well.

In the past it would probably been the creation of Buster Peterson who's other works include the Triple 657, Dual D8/9s and side by side versions as well. May of his designs were re-engineered for production and adopted by Cats themselves. Guess that Cat do now have a special projects division responsible for machines like the McAnich 651 towed scrapers and the 637 auger scraper.
Am I right in saying that all other Cat graders have even number designations - if so what is the significance of the odd number?

Cat graders are numbered by the blade width, ie 16H 16 foot blade and so on...

Thanks Stu so I assume the 0 (zero) is ignored as a 140M,160M etc would be a bit big?!

Just to clarify things a bit, the 25M is not a Cat creation. It was thought up, and built by a contractor who runs an engineering company in the states, and an earth moving company in Canada. He built the machine to suit a need he had, and by all accounts, it's working quite well.

Looks like a dogs dinner to me.

Some pics of it on SOCAL ...

Some ideas are sound like the blade slide.

Think a little smaller, it's actually built out of 988B parts.
