No idea, it or they (we may have had more than one, I really don't know) were gone long before I came up here.

Been there, dunn that, miserable sods wouldn't give me a T-shirt to prove it. 42 Tons operating weight with a rear-mounted ripper, Cummins 855 'donk', 20 foot blade, rigid frame, some air-over-hydraulic controls (different - not necessarily better, but 'different'.), would push-load a Cat 660B scraper better than a Cat D8H dozer and was a real glutton for work. I was at best comfortably busy keeping fill and haul roads in shape for 3 x Cat 660B scrapers, ripping the floor of the borrow pit for them, cleaning up after topsoil stripping, fishing out the odd bogged scraper and any other odd jobs they could find to throw at me. It was NOT a Cat grader but I enjoyed my time on it, mostly because of the sheer grunt of the beast, I think.

That was on a job constructing an earth-walled retention basin for treated effluent for sugar cane irrigation near Hervey Bay, Queensland, Australia, in 1996. I don't know where the jigger is now but could possibly find out.

Hi Renaultman, Was that the old bhp/coal one last seen around 93-4 at old Alan Humboldt yard in Brisbane ? wonder what happen to big mother that we had that bhp newman in the 80 now that was a grader to kick a with 850hp & 100tons looked good with twin chrome stacks parked 16h under main frame one day.

Hi, Oldtom.
When I was running it in late 1996-early '97, it was up in Hervey Bay working on a retention basin to store treated effluent for sugar cane irrigation. At that time, it 'belonged' to one Tony Halpin, trading as Oxley Plant Hire, and was hired out to a gentleman named Roy Davis, for whom I was working at the time.

I have no idea where it is now but may be able to find out if you are interested.
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Dear all,

I'm new here and wanted to thank you very much for this thread, so interesting!

I started to build a radio control model of a motor grader.
It is not very realistic-looking, but it has all the functions of an original.
(You can see it here: http://flickr.com/gp/22070130@N07/13BERN )

I am thinking about building a second one, using what I learned in this one,
to make it more realistic.
I came across the G350 and this thread - and I'm completely blown away.
I've seen the photos you all submitted - thanks a lot, several are only available here!

I've ordered two brochures of the G350 and might have some info to add to this thread soon.
However, I already know that these brochures do not contain full technical details.
So, if you have any further details, like width, length and wheelbase(s) or could comment
on whether the cab is the same (or at least of the same size) as used on smaller O&K graders of the time,
that would be very helpful.
Pictures of components, replacement parts, scans of shop manuals, ... , anything really!
I cannot promise that I will actually manage to build a G350 or that it would be as good-looking as the
original, but it would be so exciting!

Best wishes
Jens

Here are a couple of shots of another of the G350s that still kick around the area from time to time. I can only assume this was one of ours as well.

Oh wow! Thanks a lot!!
I have received the brochures and will scan them as soon as our scanner is fixed :-/

The brochures are with the early style cab and one of them lists the standard blade width as 4900mm (16'), with 5900mm optional. The job report brochure only mentions the larger 5900mm (19' 4'') blade.
IMO the 4900mm sounds way too small for such a beast?

Found another shot! :)
Going by the filename, this was in 2002?
Looks like new, possibly recently refurbished?
Australia - some interesting other shots there, too:

Hi, Jensr.
The blade on the O&K G350 that I operated was 20 feet wide or near enough 6 metres. I diubt that the G350 cab would fit any of O&K's smaller graders. Grader cabs are not renowned for being terribly spacious and that one was far and away the most spacious that I have ever been in so I doubt it would fit.

42 Tonnes.
380 - 400 hp. - Cummins 855 diesel engine.
Most controls were air-over-hydraulic assisted.

The cab floor was well over 6 feet from the ground. I am 5' 9" - 175 cm - and I could just reach up and put my lunch box on the cab floor.

Hope this helps.
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Found a few more pics of this monster.. I think one is Deas hisself! Oddly enough, when you do a Google search for O&K G350, Deas' name pops up about a dozen times.. aaah, celebrity! I have some pics I took many years ago I'll try to find.. odd how one of the 26 wound up in Nebraska. All that's left is the drive tandems last time I saw it.
