I need help finding out what my grader is.

Post #1 by Brace » Wed Oct 22, 2014 5:39 pm

I bought this grader at an auction and it runs great but I'm not sure what it is. I've looked all over the internet and not able to see anything called DG 644. It's has a IHC motor. Any thoughts

Hi Stacey and welcome  I wonder if this is an Austin Western grader? That's just a guess. ;)

Hi Jeremy. That is what I was thinking it might be. It doesn't have a steering wheel. And the tag is worn out to see the name. I looked up the Austin westerns and couldn't find one that had the modle dg644. It is a really neat grader though and I'm looking forward to grading with it. Runs perfect. Someone told me they thought IHC made a grader of there own for a few years but I've had no luck finding out. Have you heard if they did? Thanks for your help.

Yes IH did make graders but I don't think it is an IH machine? I would have a good look round the machine to see if there is a chassis plate or any other identity stamped onto the machine.

Hi,
I don't think it's an Austin Western, my money is on Gallion.
They typically used the IH engine and grill, I'll do some research and see what I can find.

Thanks Fred  :claphands: I thought you would have a fair idea of what it could be; I did consider Gallion but could not come across any pictures that look anything like this one? I also wondered if it was a Le Tourneau but once again nothing like it came up.

Thanks you guys. I will keep looking too. I agree with you Fred on the the back end of a Gallion looking the same. Once again I'm not finding anything for dg644

Ok any of the Austin westerns or adams that I look at none of the frames are shaped like the one I have. I'm going to try and read the worn out tag again to see if I can make anything out on it to try and help. Thanks for the suggestions Fred and Jeremy.
