Fantastic aircraft Martyn.
RAF wittering is visible from our workshop, and we spent many years watching the Harriers of number 1 squadron fly and they were absolutely amazing. They would often have exercises and land them in clearings in the local woodlands and cover them over with camouflage netting, you would have no idea that they were there, apart from the odd scorpion tank used to guard them and surface to air missiles
It was a sad day when they finally left.

Hello Richard
The Harrier and the Vulcan were superb aircraft. I used to go to many airshows in the past. Those two types always impressed me with their displays. Classic machines

Hey one crashed at my local airshow a few years back.
they say the pilot was showboating for the crowd and pulled the wrong lever

When the Harriers of No1 squadron left RAF Wittering, they moved a short distance to RAF Cottesmore. Here you will see there last day and at about 5 minutes in you will see one taking its final bow to the crowd
