Photo shows the new passenger rolling stock introduced in the UK
as you can see it has full aircon.

Hello John
This picture was taken at Deep Duffryn colliery in the 1970's at Mountain Ash. I was born in the hospital about a quarter of a mile from where this photo was taken. It was a facinating place to live if you liked machinery. There were a fleet of 7 steam tank engines at work there till it shut in the early 1980's,working a huge railway complex,The steam tank engines were used to move the coal waste two miles down the valley at Cwm Cynon, the 16 ton coal wagons you see in the picture were unloaded by three 22 RB cranes fitted with coal grabs.I wish I took more photos. The RB's were owned by Short Bros plant hire on hire to the NCB. They even tracked the 22RB's on the main road between sites.Others were transported on loaders with the jibs complete, 60 foot long, sticking out and loaded with tracks across the lowloader bed.Three of the steam tank engines are in preservation at Blaenavon.

Hi Martyn,
I was brought up in another mining district, West Yorkshire. My dad was one of the 'winding engine' drivers. We wern't too close to the railway there.
On a different topic (not wanting to hi-jack your thread, will you be going to any of the upcoming ACMOC events ? Just got the latest magazine this morning), would be good to meet up with you.
I spent quite a few hours on a Drott as a teenager, was most impressed with it's capability, would be on my buy list if I found a nice one.
