house fire

Post #1 by jcb4cx » Sun Jan 16, 2011 7:27 pm

Last night just around 9 pm we heard some shouting out the front of our house ,had a quick peek through the curtains but could see nothing
it then changed to screaming and i saw one of our neighbours Louisa ,had a hold of the lady who lives 3 doors along
i then heard the words fire so quickly got my boots on and ran out
the front room was on fire ,the lady who's living there was as pi$$ed as a rat
(alcoholic) managed to get enough sense from her to tell us no one else was in house ,only her little terrier/jack cross
sofa / front room was well alight now ,so pulled door shut and ran around to the back with my Misses ,kicked the gate in and got the back door open ,massive plumes of black smoke came pouring out ,shouted best i could for dog ,but no good ,shut door back up and went around to the front to switch off gas supply ,the drunk lady kept trying to get back into house and needed a fair bit of holding by neighbours
i went out in to road to wait for fire engine as our numbers are odds one side and evens the other with lots of little side roads / alleys
they soon turned up and quickly got it under control ,two went in with B.A and hose ,Dog was found in bathroom ,sadly killed by smoke
police turned up and took over restraining her and paramedics checked her over but she was so drunk they gave up and left
looks like she fell asleep on sofa with fag on the go
lucky for her a young girl open her front door to call cat in and saw the flames at the window ,she raised the alarm by knocking Louisa ,who ran over and by chance the front door was not locked ,she managed to drag her out and saved her life
the house is rented and the owners who live close by turned up
house is a right mess and will need a complete refit

shes been back tonight trying to get into the house ,came and knocked the door to see if her dog was still on my front lawn
(last place she saw it with police) i told her the police have it ,Dignity will not collect it unless someone pays ,so they have arranged for the council to collect it tomorrow ,or i will take it to the farm and bury it in the woods, i could hardly give a drunk woman her dead dog in a brown paper bag to walk the streets with ,as she has been kicked out of the temporary accommodation already according to the police
we called them after she returned and they have made sure the house is still secure ,she knocked on some other neighbours begging for money for more booze

i would say early 50's ,she has some issues with other "stuff" to i gather
the police went in last night to find some pictures of her mother she wanted ,they were in the freezer ,no joke
she really needs help ,but to get it you need to accept it
she has family near by but they don,t want her either i gather
sad state of affairs really
cheers graham
