Cat Chopper made by Orange County Choppers

Post #1 by SRB » Mon Nov 26, 2007 2:56 pm

Seen as we have a few bike enthusiasts here, thought id stick these pics up of the American Chopper made Cat Chopper.

Three of these Bikes were made for Cat, for some reason (i assume marketing or product placement or some other bu!! $hit reason) the program is never aired on UK TV.

Level of detail is amazing, if you look at the rear wheel you can see al the bolts are Cat bolts, including the bolts that hold the rear fender on.

This was also a nice model made by ERTL.

Enjoy

Nice ride. Not my cup of tea but still a masterpiece.

Has it got any brakes??

Some of the choppers use what could be called a "brake sprocket" or "sprocket brake disc". The shiny portion of the sprocket could be the swept area of such a sprocket/disc.
Not a good construction if you ask me. What about the combination of brake pads and chain oil? But I guess quite a lot of those bikes are not intended for using.
The front wheel could have a disc brake on the left side but we don´t see it on those pictures.
I´m not impressed by choppers as they according to my experience usually have very poor handling. But I´m impressed by the craftmanship that usually are put into them.

The front wheel is braked, you can just make it out in this pic.

I owned a chopper once and the handling was scary. Harley makes a decent motorcycle, but the only bike that really impresses me is the BSA Gold Star. There is something about a thumper that turns me on.
